Spectrum is delighted to launch our dedicated family SEND sessions, Spectrum Play.
We would like to extend our huge thanks to Clare & Adam at Littleport Leisure Centre for all their time and efforts on the planning and launch of our dedicated Spectrum Play SEND sessions for families of children with Autism, additional needs and disabilities. Their passion for inclusion and the community is exceptional.
We have worked with Claire & Adam for several years delivering events, their venue is the home of our wrestling events with Ultimate British Wrestling, and it’s fantastic to now head in this direction as well. Thank you so much for developing this with us and creating an exciting future for those we support.
Justin Heron, Spectrum CEO & Operations, said, “Our inclusive sessions with Littleport Leisure are created as a response to the need we see in the community for families of children with Autism and additional needs. The sessions are designed to help families reduce their isolation and increase their social circles with like-minded families, encouraging opportunities, gaining peer support and improving social skills. The private setting we provide is safeguarding considered for parents’ peace of mind and allows the children we support to be themselves without judgment. We are delighted to be working on this project with Littleport Leisure and are excited to roll out all our plans ahead with them.”
Alongside activities and play, families will also be able to meet the Spectrum team and learn about our events and services. They will also be able to access our family worker for family/child support, including assistance on DLA/PIP/EHCP as well as the Max Card.
Moving forwards, Spectrum Play sessions provide us with the opportunity to integrate such options as themed sessions, mini-athletics, teach new sports, animal education, refreshment options, utilise technology, movies, soft play, plus guest visits and much, much more. We have already seen an exceptional response from the community in terms of both initial interest and from organisations and partners we already work with, who would like to get involved in our sessions, making for a fascinating future.
Spectrum is a multi-award winning, parent-led charity, providing events and support for families of children with Autism, additional needs, learning difficulties and disabilities. We are family-focused, passionate about inclusion and supporting Special Education Needs & Disabilities (SEND).
